It was dark and Jesus had not yet come to them

This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the horrific events that happened in 1999 at the Columbine high school in Denver Colorado. On that tragic day, two students and friends arm themselves with assault rifles and went on a shooting spree. At the end of their carnage, dead were several of their classmates and collogues.
Since then, there has been several duplicate shootings, such as the ones in Sandy Brook Connecticut and Oakland Park Florida just to name a few. College campuses are not immune either, see Virginia Tech and Florida State. Adults were targeted as well, see the mass shooting at a Las Vegas Nevada concert.

it is always dark in someone’s life when Jesus has not yet come to them

This problem is not unique to the United States only, as there were mass shootings in France and other countries around the world. This post is not to address the political side of this issue, although there are common sense steps the government can take it more difficult for people to carry out such evil actions.
However, this post is to address the real elephant in the room which is, what all these perpetrators have in common is that they do not know Jesus as Lord and savior.

In John chapter 6 and verse 17, the bible speaks about how Christ withdrew himself from the multitude because he perceives that they wanted to take him by force.
Consequently, his disciples were waiting for him to return to them, it was now dark and Christ had not yet return to them.

Although this scene was speaking of evening and Jesus did not return to his disciples as yet, metaphorically speaking, it is always dark in someone’s life when Jesus has not yet come to them. In other words, you are in darkness when you do not know Christ as Lord and savior over your life.

As believers, we are thankful that Christ has called us out of darkness and into his marvelous light, as such we are to let our light shine that others my see and come to know him and the only true and living God. Be bless and continue to live the higher life.
