Who Am I In Christ

As a child of God, the moment you accept Christ Jesus as Lord you were seal with the Holy Spirit of promise. Ephesians 1:13

In fact, if you do not have the Holy Spirit, you do not belong to Christ at all
(Romans 8:9). The Holy Spirit then gives us the ability to live the Christ-like life.

The life that saw us changed from sinful desires which can be broken down into three categories: Sex, Religion and Relationships:

  • Sex – A person defiles him or herself
     homosexuality, impurity, lustful pleasures, adultery
  • Religion – A person defiles their relationship with God
    worshiping idols, sorcery, witchcraft
  • Relationships – A person defiles their relationship with others
murder, thieves, envy, jealousy, outbursts of anger, wild parties, division, dissension, hostility, quarreling

And in this state, we were aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world.

So we were State-less, Covenant-less, Hope-less and God-less. As such we were enemies of God and a candidate for God’s wrath.

But in Christ, we are no longer aliens but citizens of heaven, we are no longer covenant-less but heirs to the new covenant. We are no more hope-less, because our hope is in Christ Jesus and we are no longer God-less because the Spirit of God now dwell in us.

To that end, we are now a new creation and our desire is to walk by the Spirit, thereby producing the Fruit of the Spirit which are Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Meekness (Gentleness), Self-Control.

Additionally, since we have the mind of Christ, we have the ability to think on things above. Things that are true, and honorable, pure and lovely, things that are excellent and worthy of praise. (Philippians 4:8)
